I remember the sound of breathing before I fell asleep. It was a soft reassurance that everyone was still there. After a few miscellanious mayhaps, one learns to look for little signs.
Later that night I woke up and a prickly feeling made me feel that something was horribly wrong. I rubbed my eyes to rid myself of the sleep only to find myself not wearing my pajamas. I was in a school uniform and lying atop a multitude of desks in an apparently deserted classroom.
"Ah... heck no..."
I get up stiffly and crawled off the desks. The classroom was plain, sterile, and dark. The sound of my shoes against the floor echoed loudly in the empty air as I walked towards the door. I was glad to find it unlocked and opened it slowly, afraid of what I might find on the other side. To my relief, the hallway was empty and dark as well, the same as the classroom. It was better than I had expected so far but I dare not call out as I inched my way down the hall.
twinkle twinkle little star
how I wonder where you are
The tune of the song reached out and wrapped its sinister innocence around me.
where are you my little star?
Another dull sound reached my ears and I realized ...
The humming of the song came closer to where I was frozen against the wall.
I hear your life calling to me
twinkle twinkle little star
how I wonder where you are
...the pounding of my heart is going to give me away.
(a/n: I was in a horror story type of mood today so ^^)
